On August 1, 2003, LATV's founder, Greg Grosz and his wife, Janet, set out from Santa Paula, California (mural above) to start the first Transplant Central Tour.
Fifty-two days, 6414 miles, 3409 photographs, 100+ pages of journal notes, hours of interviews, and scores of new friends later, we are just beginning the awesome task of editing and shaping the pieces of the Tour into our website. We have now completed interviews with Dave and his wife Lori, after he received his brother's perfect-match kidney, as well as Helen who received the 2nd liver transplant in the history of Alberta, Canada.
In
addition to the abundance of material from the Tour, just before leaving we
taped a riveting follow-up to John
M's pre-transplant interview. We spoke with John, his donor, and their
families shortly after he received a living-donor liver transplant. We look
forward to adding those interviews to this site.
If you are interested in helping transcribe interviews, assist with some of
the web design, photo design, or artwork, please email us at greg@transplantcentral.org.
This
initial Tour also gave us a better idea of which video equipment and other
items we need. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation please
email us at donation@transplantcentral.org
and/or click here to obtain more information.
