Seekers Find Transplant Central Forum

Last year we set up a Message Board on MSN simply to experiment with the mechanics of setting one up. We didn’t announce its existence to the world. Today dozens of people, from inside and outside of the United States, have searched the Internet, found the Transplant Central message board, and posted messages. These people needed to talk to someone so badly that they found a message board that didn’t exist and voluntarily participated in a community of people they never met.Allow me to share a few messages, copied directly from the message board:

“ Hello all. just wanted to let every one know that my son spikes is still doing great he just got his prograf amout lowered again he is now down to 5 twice a day and his 18 birthday is on monday 10-21 and he is still healthy and obnoxious normal teenager. “Hello,
Got a question? I had a kidney transplant 10 months ago, and everything is going good.
I need to know if anyone has any experience or info on the chances
of a man who is taking cellcept to father a child. I know that it is not recomended for women to conceive while taking cellcept, and if there is any side effects.
thanks

“Hello my name is Amanda. My husband Erich who is 22 years old will be listed for a double lung transplant very soon. The doctors have advises us that the wait will be quite short. I was just wondering what exactly spouses or support people told their employers. I want to take a stress leave when Erich gets his new lungs but do I tell the employer that now or after or what do I do??

Any feed back would be GREAT”“DEAR JANET&GREG,
THANK'S FOR THE QUICK REPLY! MY HUSBAND, JIM GOT TO COME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL THIS AFTERNOON! THAT MEDICINE MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN HIS ENERGY LEVEL. THEY SAID THAT IT SHOULD LAST ABOUT FOUR WEEK'S, BUT IN THE MEAN TIME, HE'LL REMAIN #1 ON THE TRANSPLANT LIST.
MY COUSIN IS GOING TO BE HAVING A LIVER TRANSPLANT. HER SISTER IS GOING TO BE THE LIVING DONOR. SHE'LL BE HAVING IT DONE IN CHICAGO, EVEN THOUGH SHE LIVES IN LITTLE ROCK, AR. SHE'S A NURSE, AND GOT A NEEDLE STICK FROM A HEPATITIS C PATIENT.
HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU HAD TO FACE REJECTION?(IF ANY). HOW LONG WERE YOU ON THE WAITING LIST? HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOUR PAGER WENT OFF? JIM'S WENT OFF BY SOMEONE CALLING A WRONG PAGER #, AND HE SAID THAT HE FELT SICK TO HIS STOMACH.
WE LIVE IN SHERWOOD, ARKANSAS , AND HE'LL BE HAVING HIS SURGERY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS, IN LITTLE ROCK.
WELL I GUESS I'VE SAID PROBABLY MORE THAN YOU WANTED TO KNOW. I JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I APPRECIATED YOU TAKING THE TIME TO RESPOND TO MY E-MAIL. OUR #'S 501-XXX-XXXX. I'M A NURSE IN THE ICU AT A NORTH LITTLE ROCK HOSP., AND WORK 12 HOUR SHIFT'S ON THE WEEK-END'S.”
